Delete your account and data

Grow offline lets you delete your account and the data tied to it at any time. You stay in control.

Delete in the app

Open Grow offline.
Go to Account and tap Delete my account.
Type the confirmation and confirm. You confirm with Apple or Google first.

Deletion starts right away. We do not delay it to give you a chance to cancel.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account:

cancels any pending request and ends your active countdown;
ends your connections with your friends, and tells friends who have the app that you closed your account;
removes your sign-in, your phone number and its history, your requests, approvals, sessions, escape-hatch uses, check-ins, devices, push address, tree records, friend records and text consent records;
removes your name and number from your friends' records.

What we keep, and why

A do-not-text (STOP) list, stored as a keyed hash of the number, so we never text a number that opted out, even after you delete your account.
A record that a deletion happened, without anything that identifies you.
A minimal, de-identified record so any past friends keep a valid reference. It holds nothing that identifies you.
Backups hold a short point-in-time history, so deleted data can remain in backups for up to 7 days before it rolls off.
Records of texts (when, what kind, whether delivered, and a one-way scrambled form of the number, with no words), no longer linked to you.
Server logs, for as long as our hosting provider keeps them. Phone numbers are redacted before they are written.

If you cannot open the app

Email support@getgrowoffline.com and we will delete your account for you. Write from the email address you sign in with through Apple or Google. If you chose Hide My Email with Apple, include the relay address listed in your iPhone’s Settings under Sign in with Apple. If your account uses a phone number, include it in your message.

Friends who do not have the app

If you received Grow offline texts and want your number erased, reply STOP to stop all texts, then email support@getgrowoffline.com to ask us to erase your number.
